Well, we can take the straight route home through Salt Lake or
the scenic route somehow through Nevada. We chose the scenic route across US 50, touted
as America's Lonelest Highway. It starts with a final run through the colorful cliffs of
central Utah. Then we make our way to Ely, Nevada for a tour of the Northern Nevada RR
museum.

One route would take us north to the Interstate but we
continue on heading west on US 50. The route passes through a series of mountain
passes and deserts. The towns are 100 miles apart. Eureka and Austin are most
forgotten. It's dark by the time we reach Fallon and then Reno, where we stop for
a burger at Sonic, where we are served on roller skates.
